This project serves as an uplifting “laboratory” where you can discover eclectic, sustainable, and timeless handcrafted fashion, home design, and art objects, each one unique in its own right.
Our aim goes beyond mere trends; we are here to tell stories and showcase our belief in creating artistic and meaningful products that promote responsible consumption. We achieve this by utilizing recycled materials and fostering collaborations with inspiring artisans, all within circular systems.
The name “NOSTOS” derives from ancient Greek, signifying a “return to our home,” not only in a physical sense but also within ourselves. It represents the necessary step back into our inner home, allowing us to rest and embrace new journeys of life, love, work, and creation.
Although we are based in Tuscany, our roots also extend to Munich and Rio de Janeiro. We invite you to join us on this exciting venture and embark on a journey of discovery.
Nathalie Engelmann
Born in Munich, Germany, in 1983, Nathalie Engelmann grew up in a multicultural family, surrounded by creative individuals, art, diverse languages, and open-minded friends, teachers, and colleagues. She was raised in Tuscany, Italy, and obtained a degree in Fashion Design from the Polimoda Institute in Florence in 2005. During this time, she began collaborating with local leather ateliers, sparking her interest in arts and craftsmanship.
From 2010 to 2020, she resided in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where she established a dynamic network within the fashion industry. Working as a fashion designer for various brands, she primarily focused on women’s ready-to-wear, beachwear, accessories, and surface design. In 2018, she founded ENGELMANN Rio, a brand that introduced a novel concept of sustainable slow fashion. This concept was based on circular craftsmanship, the utilization of repurposed materials, and the application of art techniques to fabric.
